Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chael Sauna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mal Reynolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reynolds is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Can't take the sky from me. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chael Sauna! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mal Reynolds! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sauna defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Reynolds. Reynolds ducks under a wild hook from Sauna. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Sauna drops his shoulder and cracks Reynolds with a huge uppercut! Reynolds goes down! Can Sauna finish him?
Reynolds is rocked!
It looks like Mal Reynolds has been cut. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sauna throws a big elbow that misses. Reynolds is still in real trouble! Can Sauna finish him? Reynolds is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Sauna throwing strikes but missing. Sauna won't allow Reynolds to sweep him here. Reynolds seems to have recovered his senses. Sauna loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Reynolds holds on and takes a little breather. Sauna is looking to work some ground and pound but Reynolds has wrist control. Reynolds lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sauna! Reynolds landing strikes, looking to finish! Reynolds punching from mount but Sauna doing a good job of avoiding damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reynolds thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Sauna tries to hold on but Reynolds postures up. Sauna taking shots to the head. Sauna in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Reynolds lands a heavy elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sauna is trying to escape the mount.
Reynolds has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Reynolds swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Sauna is now in Reynolds's guard. A big mistake from Reynolds there, giving up the dominant position! Sauna looking to pass the guard. Sauna throws a big right hand that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Sauna throws a big right hand that misses. Sauna passes into half guard. Reynolds blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sauna. Sauna thows a huge punch but Reynolds dodges it nicely.
Sauna thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Reynolds's head. Reynolds is pressing down on Sauna's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Sauna throws a big right hand that misses. Sauna postures up.
Sauna has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Sauna preventing the sweep. Reynolds lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sauna! Reynolds lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Sauna that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Sauna is in a horrible position here. Reynolds smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Sauna is rocked! Sauna tries to hold on but Reynolds pushes him away. Oh Sauna is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Sauna is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Reynolds looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Sauna covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mal Reynolds! Mal Reynolds decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
