The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortiz lands with a kick to the ribs.
Ritter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ortiz swivels and escapes.
Ritter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ortiz is fending him off so far but Ritter persists. Nope, Ortiz circles away and we're back to standing.
Ortiz with a nice cross.
Ortiz throws a combination. Ritter tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Ritter tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ritter shoots in looking for a takedown. Ortiz tries to sprawl out of it but Ritter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ortiz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blake Ritter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ritter is breathing heavily.

Horrible takedown by Ritter or perhaps it was just good defense by Ortiz which made him look bad.

Ritter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ortiz pinned against the cage. Ortiz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Ritter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ortiz throws a nice inside leg kick.
Ortiz lands a nice looking kick to the body. Ritter takes a step back to recover.
Ritter takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Ortiz connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Ortiz buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Ritter takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ritter has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ortiz finds it's way round the side to connect with Ritter's head.
Ritter is rocked!
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Ritter. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Ortiz throws a front kick that sends Ritter stumbling back into the cage.
Vega Ortiz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ortiz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ritter stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ortiz scores with a leg kick.
Ortiz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ortiz lands with a cross.
Good work by Ritter as he checks the leg kick.
A bone on bone clash there as Ritter blocks the leg kick.
A big right from Ortiz misses.
Ortiz misses with a kick to the body.

Ritter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ritter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ritter looking to control but Ortiz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Ritter looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Ortiz is trying to stand up.
Ritter controlling from the full mount.

Ritter is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Ritter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ortiz but Ortiz pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ritter wants to clinch.
Ritter scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Ritter looks for a takedown but Ortiz sprawls well.
Ritter fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ritter uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ortiz.
Ritter needs to keep his hands up - Ortiz had a free shot at his head there.
Ortiz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ritter stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ortiz.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ortiz throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Ritter closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ortiz to the mat! Ortiz manages to get full guard.
Ritter missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Ritter prevents Ortiz from getting back to his feet.
Ritter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ortiz wants to stand up but Ritter is controlling him.
Ritter thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Ritter is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ritter trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Ritter trying to control the position from guard on top but Ortiz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ortiz misses with a body kick.
Ritter tries for a takedown but Ortiz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ritter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ortiz pinned against the cage. Ortiz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ritter moves into the clinch successfully.
Ritter ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ritter no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Ritter not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ritter had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ortiz is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ritter Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ortiz's back instead.

Ortiz is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Ritter wants to control but Ortiz is keeping busy.
Ritter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ortiz won't enjoy being in this position. Ritter looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Ortiz is tapping - it's over boys! Ritter picks up the submission victory!
