PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Roper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sebastian Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Scott Roper!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roper misses with a takedown

and Walker counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Roper looking for a guillotine here but Walker defends easily.
Walker slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Walker sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Roper's guard.

Roper is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Walker pulls his head out easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Walker trying to mount his opponent but Roper defends it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walker seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Roper actively working from the bottom here.
Walker prevents Roper from improving his position.
Walker works his way into side control.
Roper manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Walker tries to get to full guard but Roper has control of the leg.
Walker on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Walker tries to get out of the position.

Roper is looking for a kimura here.

Roper is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Walker has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Walker pushes Roper off looking to stand but Roper dives back in and keeps control.

Walker is defending against the submission attempts here by Roper.
Walker holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Roper is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Walker is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Roper's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Roper's back!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Walker is looking for the choke from the back position but Roper is controlling his hands well.
Roper is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Walker is not going to allow Roper to sit and survive in this position.
Walker keeps control of the position as Roper tries to break free.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walker doesn't have the hooks in and Roper manages to turn into his guard.
Walker might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Roper is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Roper has gone for a leg lock! Walker slips out almost immediately though and dives into Roper's guard.

Roper had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Walker defends it easily.
Walker wants to pass the guard but Roper is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Walker looking to pass the guard.

Roper is looking for a triangle but Walker pushes his legs off easily.
Roper controls Walker momentarily but Walker frees himself.

Roper throws his legs up looking for a submission but Walker uses it to pass to side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Roper tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Walker wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Walker is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Roper's shoulder. That is not cool.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Roper is trying to control Walker's posture but Walker avoids it.
Walker tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walker is breathing heavily.
Roper gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sebastian Walker will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Walker counters by clinching up.

Walker works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Roper looking for a sweep. Not yet Roper, not yet.
Walker has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Roper has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Walker should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Roper has tightened it up now! Walker should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Scott Roper!
In his post fight interview, Scott Roper started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
