Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ty Ming! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Red Project ! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Project shoots in and gets a takedown into Ming's guard. Ming wants to get back to his feet but Project is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Project chips away with some ground and pound. Project tries to free his leg and advance position but Ming is retaining full guard. Ming can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Project controls the pace. Ming wants to get back to his feet but Project is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Project is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Project trying to control the position from guard on top but Ming is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ming can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Project controls the pace. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Red Project hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Project moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Ming throws a leg kick but Project moved away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ming lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Ming misses with a body shot.
Ming motions for Project to come forward. Ming throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Project uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ming. Project scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Project is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ming is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Project wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ming keeps working. Project is trying to get an arm triangle but Ming is defending well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ming takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Project is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ming has escaped the position, nice work there. Project controls the position from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ming takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Project throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Project wants to control but Ming is keeping him busy. Project has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Ming is trying to escape and get back to his feet. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Project controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Project working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Project has hold of Ming's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Ming tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Project cranks the arm and Ming screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Ming, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
