Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aj Smith! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Greg Dixon! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dixon throws a right and a left that Smith avoids nicely. Dixon tries to sprawl but Smith drives through with a takedown into half guard. Smith trying to control the pace. Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Dixon is in trouble now - Smith has advanced to mount! Smith sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Dixon is trying to escape the mount.
Smith tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Smith lands a nice shot to the head. Smith looking to control and managing it successfully. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Smith cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dixon tries to lock up and control but Smith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith lands a big elbow. Smith unloading with bombs! Dixon is looking to improve his position but Smith isn't that keen on the idea. Smith controlling from mount. Smith raining down shots from the mount! Smith controlling from the full mount. Smith tries to control but Dixon wriggling away. Dixon wants to control but Smith is having none of it. Smith content just to control the position here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dixon is in a horrible position here. Smith smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith raining down shots from the mount! Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dixon really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A nice elbow there by Smith. Smith tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Dixon is looking to get to half guard. Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Smith with a couple of short strikes. BOOM! Smith connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Smith controlling the pace for now. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Smith landing strikes from the mount and Dixon is in trouble! Smith controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dixon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Smith looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Greg Dixon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No luck with that takedown attempt from Smith. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aj Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smith looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Dixon tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it. Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Smith stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smith wants it to stay on the feet. Smith lands with an uppercut that bounces Dixon off the cage and back into range.

The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Dixon fails miserably with a takedown attempt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith. Dixon tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dixon as he avoids it easily. Smith shoots in but Dixon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dixon shoots in and drives through. Smith sprawls well. Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Dixon, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Dixon against the cage but Dixon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Dixon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Smith lands a nice looking body shot.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith. Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dixon defends it nicely. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dixon is defended easily by Smith. Dixon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith. Smith scores with a nice head shot. No luck with that takedown attempt from Smith. Dixon leaves Smith with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Dixon closes the distance and pushes Smith back into the cage. Dixon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Dixon. Dixon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dixon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Dixon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Dixon tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard. Dixon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Smith has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dixon has managed to get both his arms back between Smith's legs - danger averted. Aj Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dixon is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control. Smith wants to sweep here but Dixon controlling him for the moment. Dixon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smith is keeping the position for now. Smith is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dixon is aware though and is defending well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Smith looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Dixon wants to stand but Smith is controlling his posture from full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Greg Dixon will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Dixon tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range. Smith looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dixon is fending him off so far but Smith persists. Nope, Dixon circles away and we're back to standing. Dixon feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Dixon wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Smith is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Dixon rolls with it to try and escape but Smith cranks on the arm and Dixon is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
