PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Edward Newgate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Timber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Edward Newgate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tim Timber!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Timber tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Newgate was well out of range. Poor timing from Timber.
Newgate avoids the head kick by Timber.
Newgate takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Newgate shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Newgate was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Newgate is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Timber will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Timber tries to bench press Newgate off him but Newgate keeps the position.

Newgate tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Newgate trying to control the action but Timber is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Newgate taking a breather here.
Newgate really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Timber looks to move to half guard but instead Newgate has passed into mount! Damn!
Newgate trying to control but Timber is having none of it.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Newgate cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Newgate pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Newgate will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Timber holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Newgate tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Timber is squirming around, avoiding Newgate's attempts to control the action.
Newgate is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Newgate avoids the attempt from Timber to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Newgate is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Newgate extends the arm and Timber is forced to tap!
