Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Francis Brizuela! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Zef Tanghe! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tanghe throws out a loose jab but Brizuela uses good head movement to avoid it. Brizuela moves out of range of the body kick. Tanghe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Brizuela makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Brizuela takes a swing at Tanghe's ribcage but misses. Tanghe avoids a kick to the body.
Brizuela lands with a kick to the temple. Tanghe shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Tanghe blocks a head kick by Brizuela.
Brizuela throws a body kick that misses. Brizuela just misses with a punch to the body.
Brizuela fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Tanghe looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Brizuela throws a head kick that misses. Tanghe lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Brizuela slips a jab from Tanghe.
That's one minute gone in the round. A swing and a miss from Tanghe. Tanghe ducks right into an uppercut from Brizuela. Brizuela bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Brizuela lands a slapping body shot.
Brizuela bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Brizuela scores with a hook to the body. Tanghe takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Tanghe looks winded! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Tanghe looks for a takedown but Brizuela sprawls well. Brizuela swinging wildly here.
Tanghe on the wrong end of a nice hook. Brizuela jabs Tanghe right on the nose. Tanghe blinks but takes it well. Brizuela blocks a jab. Tanghe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brizuela's waist but Brizuela gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tanghe off to one side. Brizuela drops Tanghe with a beautiful combination! Tanghe stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Brizuela is looking for the KO!
Tanghe is rocked!
It looks like Zef Tanghe has been cut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tanghe leaves his chin hanging out and Brizuela seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Tanghe crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
