Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kaan Korkut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Blanko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaan Korkut had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kaan Korkut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Blanko!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Anthony Taglia and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Korkut shoots in for a takedown but Blanko shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Horrible takedown by Korkut or perhaps it was just good defense by Blanko which made him look bad.
Blanko tries for a takedown but Korkut circles away easily

and Korkut counters by moving into the clinch.
Korkut is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Korkut jumps into guard, dragging Blanko to the mat.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Blanko passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Korkut is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Korkut's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Korkut wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

We're going to have a standup here because Kaan Korkut wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Blanko feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Korkut is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Korkut has momentary wrist control but Blanko slips an elbow through the middle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blanko throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Korkut works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Blanko looking to sit in guard and control but Korkut gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Korkut wants to control from the top but Blanko keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kaan Korkut will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Korkut closes the distance and pushes Blanko back into the cage.

Blanko has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Korkut after a bit of a struggle.
Korkut using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Blanko has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Blanko is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Korkut is defending well.
Korkut throws a head punch that misses.

Korkut jumps guard and drags Blanko to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Blanko wants to control from the top but Korkut keeps moving.
Korkut has control of Blanko's left arm, preventing Blanko from doing any damage.

Korkut pushes Blanko off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Korkut decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Blanko is breathing heavily.
Korkut looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Korkut tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Blanko.
Blanko looks like he's trying to stand up.
Korkut seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Blanko does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Korkut is working for a kimura but Blanko is defending it quite comfortably.
Blanko tries to roll over but Korkut keeps him under control.
Blanko wants to get back to his feet.
Korkut is stalling here. Blanko is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Korkut seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Blanko has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Korkut manages to work his way to half guard, despite Blanko's best efforts.
Korkut moves into full guard.
Korkut looking for a sweep. Not yet Korkut, not yet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blanko throws a big elbow that misses.
Korkut can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Blanko controls the pace.
Korkut lands an upkick as Blanko stands over him.

Korkut has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Blanko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Blanko fails with the takedown.
Blanko keeps the fight on the outside.
Korkut stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Korkut wants it to stay on the feet.
Korkut changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Blanko tries to avoid it but Korkut manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Blanko to the ground. Blanko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Korkut misses with a takedown attempt - Blanko sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Blanko swats away the attempt to clinch by Korkut.

Korkut is looking for a sweep. Blanko is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Blanko thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Korkut's head.
Korkut is looking to escape.
Korkut avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Blanko.
Korkut manages to get to full guard.
Korkut keeping moving, preventing Blanko from controlling successfully.

Blanko is in close to Korkut's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Korkut working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Blanko.
Korkut wants to control but Blanko passes easily into half guard.

BOOM! Blanko connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like Kaan Korkut has been cut.
Blanko pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
BOOM! Blanko connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Korkut is desperately trying to improve his position but Blanko has a good base and remains in mount.
Blanko cracks Korkut with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.


Korkut is rocked!


Kaan Korkut's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Korkut is working to get back to half guard.
Blanko controlling his opponent.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Blanko wants to control the pace but Korkut is squirming around nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
Billy Blanko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Korkut has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
