Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Don Quixote! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David William ! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Alyssa Summers and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! William forces Quixote back against the cage and clinches. Quixote wants to stall.
William breaks from the clinch.
Quixote throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. William checks a leg kick. Quixote closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into William 's guard. Quixote is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Quixote looking to pass the guard. Quixote slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Quixote wants to control but William is keeping him busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. William prevents Quixote from moving into mount. Quixote tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Quixote has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! William is looking to regain half guard here but Quixote keeps moving and retains side control. William tries to strike from the bottom but misses. William stops Quixote from passing to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Quixote looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Quixote wants to lay and pray for a moment but William keeps working. William sneaks back into half guard. Quixote is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. William has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Quixote is working away from the top position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. William is not content to let Quixote control the position. William manages to get to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Quixote pushes down on William 's leg and manages to get into half guard. William looks winded! Quixote seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but William does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. William tries to get to full guard but Quixote has control of the leg. Quixote uses his free foot to push down on William 's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for William . The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Quixote takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Quixote shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches William napping and manages to drive through into side control! Quixote is looking to take a break and control but William is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. William regains half guard, as Quixote was trying to land strikes. Quixote stalling away here and it's allowed William to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Quixote sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed William 's guard.

William is breathing heavily. Quixote seems to be working for a kimura but William defends the submission attempt. Quixote works his foot free and advances to mount. Don Quixote overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quixote wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Quixote trying to control but William is having none of it. Quixote seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but William is holding on tight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Quixote trying to control but William is having none of it. Quixote thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Quixote closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Quixote lands in his opponent's guard. Quixote won't allow William to sweep him here. William is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Quixote is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Quixote stands and throws William 's legs to the side, diving into side control. Quixote wants to control but William is keeping him busy.

William is looking to regain half guard here but Quixote keeps moving and retains side control. Quixote wants to lay and pray for a moment but William keeps working. Quixote has worked his way into a potential kimura here. William is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Quixote yanks on the arm and William is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Quixote.
