Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mike Born! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ask Midgard! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Midgard throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Midgard throws a series of punches but Born avoids them all with ease. Born closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Midgard to the mat! Midgard manages to get full guard. Born is working Midgard over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Born wanted to stand there but Midgard had control of the position. Midgard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Born. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Born trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Midgard wants to stand and escape but Born is having none of it. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Born is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Midgard avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Midgard working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Born. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Midgard keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Born escapes and gets back to his feet. Good exchange - Midgard coming out on top.

Oooooh!!! Midgard has knocked Born down with a huge combo! Midgard steps away and waves a wobbly Born back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Born is rocked! Midgard tries to bum rush Born with a series of wild strikes but Born uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Oh Born is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Midgard lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Born circles away quickly and effectively. Midgard will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Born pulls back from the ropes and twists to the side, sending Midgard tumbling to the mat - Born dives into Midgard's guard.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Born thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Born is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Midgard is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Midgard has escaped and now he's on top! Born is pulling down on Midgard's head. It's preventing any offense from Midgard, at least for the moment. Born throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
That's six minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Born holds on and takes a little breather. Midgard is looking to stand up but Born won't let him.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Midgard throws a series of punches but Born avoids them all with ease. Midgard lands a left and a right that send Born crashing to the mat, dazed. Midgard thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Born closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Midgard's guard. Born drops back looking for a leg! Midgard is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Midgard manages to kick Born off! Born jumps back into Midgard's guard.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Midgard utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Born working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Born throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Midgard works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Born gets to his feet. Midgard looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Born dodges the punch combination from Midgard.

That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
