The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne shoots in looking for a takedown. Turpin tries to sprawl out of it but Payne keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Turpin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Turpin scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Turpin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
It looks like Billy Payne has been cut.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Payne has eaten all the pies!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Turpin counters with a nice low kick that buckles Payne's knee momentarily.
Payne looks winded!
Turpin scores with a kick to the midsection.
Randolph Turpin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turpin lands with a thumping leg kick.
Turpin with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Payne drops his hands for a split second and Turpin immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Payne face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Turpin follows up with a right hand that knocks Payne into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!

Randolph Turpin was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
