Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tom Hardy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Anderson! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hardy has a takedown stuffed. Hardy rushes Anderson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Hardy gets control of Anderson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hardy will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Hardy pulls Anderson in close to prevent any damage. Hardy keeping moving, preventing Anderson from controlling successfully. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Anderson's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Hardy is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Anderson is controlling him. Anderson throws an elbow that misses. Hardy uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Anderson's guard. Nice move by Hardy! Hardy looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Hardy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson working for a triangle but Hardy defends it easily.
Hardy wants to stand but Anderson is controlling his posture from full guard. Anderson controls Hardy momentarily but Hardy frees himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Hardy content to stall in guard here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Anderson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Anderson is looking to stand up but Hardy isn't so interested in that idea. Hardy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Tom Hardy has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Anderson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hardy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hardy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Hardy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Hardy trying to control but Anderson is working from the bottom. Anderson wants to stand and escape but Hardy is having none of it. Hardy cracks Anderson with a solid left hand. Hardy stays in close to Anderson's body and controls the position. Hardy is looking to stand up but Anderson won't let him.
We're going to have a standup here because Tom Hardy wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Anderson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hardy circles away quickly and effectively.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hardy is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Hardy is looking to advance position but Anderson won't allow it. Hardy working Anderson over with strikes. Hardy takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Hardy wants to stand up but Anderson is controlling the position.

Hardy closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Anderson quickly recovers to half guard. Anderson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Tom Hardy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hardy is thwarting Anderson's attempts to control the position. Hardy wants to take a breather but Anderson is having none of it. Anderson trying to hold on to Hardy's head to control him but Hardy postures up.
Hardy is looking to advance position but Anderson won't allow it. Hardy is figuring out what he wants to do next. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Hardy fails to land the takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hardy drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Anderson trying to remain calm as Hardy controls from the top position. Anderson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hardy's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Anderson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hardy is working away from the top position though. Hardy tries to pass to full mount but Anderson defends it. Anderson is trying to control but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hardy is taking a breather. Anderson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Anderson trying to hold on to Hardy's head to control him but Hardy postures up.
Hardy performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tom Hardy. Hardy looking to score a takedown here. Anderson is defending well but Hardy drives through and ends up in Anderson's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hardy not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Anderson wants to improve his position but instead Hardy has moved into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hardy stalling. Anderson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hardy is working away from the top position though. Hardy is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Anderson sees it coming and defends easily. Anderson trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Hardy manages to pass to mount!

Anderson throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A nice elbow there by Hardy. Hardy controlling the position easily from mount. Anderson can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hardy feints and as Anderson raises his hands in defense, Hardy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Anderson looking for a guillotine here but Hardy defends easily.
Anderson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Anderson trying to keep a closed guard but Hardy is proving a slippery customer.
This has been an exciting period of action!

OK we're going to have a standup here. James Anderson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Anderson has his takedown stuffed and Hardy counters by clinching up. Hardy breaks from the clinch.
Anderson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hardy clinches. Hardy stalls. Hardy has picked Anderson up - he's going for a ride! Hardy dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hardy slips a nice elbow through Anderson's hands, connecting with Anderson's forehead. Hardy is nestled in close to Anderson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hardy in particular looking to stall. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Anderson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! Tom Hardy showed his dominance in that final round. Well Hardy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
