1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wayne Henzel! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cormier pushes Henzel up against the cage in a clinch. Come on Henzel - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Cormier has clasped his hands together around Henzel's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Cormier working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Cormier staying calm. Cormier wants to lay and pray for a moment but Henzel keeps working. Cormier is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Henzel has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cormier has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Henzel throws a head kick but Cormier moves out of range.
Henzel looks for a takedown but Cormier sprawls well. Henzel looks winded! Cormier looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Cormier is stalling in the full guard. Cormier preventing the sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cormier postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Cormier stands up from Henzel's guard - Cormier perhaps looking for a knockout. Henzel is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Cormier pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Henzel moves into the clinch successfully.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cormier turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Cormier manages to end up in side control. Cormier stands up and beckons Henzel to his feet. Henzel fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cormier will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Cormier circles away from the clinch attempt.
Henzel tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Cormier is able to avoid easily. Henzel tries to keep at a distance but Cormier has taken the fight into the clinch. Cormier jumps guard.
Henzel should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Cormier has control of Henzel's left arm, preventing Henzel from doing any damage. Cormier manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Henzel manages to get himself to full guard.
Cormier wants to get up but he can't break Henzel's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Henzel is wriggling around but Cormier manages to pass to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Cormier passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Henzel! Cormier looking to control but Henzel is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Cormier lands a heavy elbow. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cormier controlling the position easily from mount. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Henzel is bucking up trying to escape but Cormier cracks him with another couple of good strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Daniel Cormier dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Cormier closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cormier lands in his opponent's guard. Cormier trying to stand up but can't free himself from Henzel's guard. Cormier passes easily into side control. Nice work. You can see the frustration on Henzel's face as Cormier controls the position. Cormier has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Henzel! Henzel is trying desperately to improve position. Cormier lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Henzel is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cormier trying to control but he's not successful this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cormier is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Henzel has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Henzel! Henzel wants to control from the top but Cormier keeps moving. Henzel with a flurry of punches that miss. Cormier pulls Henzel in close to prevent any damage. Cormier wants to get back to his feet but Henzel is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Cormier wants to sweep here but Henzel controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Henzel wants to control from the top but Cormier keeps moving. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Cormier looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Henzel throws a big elbow that misses. Cormier thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Cormier lands a good elbow from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cormier managing to control the position. Cormier keeping moving, preventing Henzel from controlling successfully. Henzel loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Cormier might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Cormier tries to land a sweep but no joy. Henzel trying to control the position from guard on top but Cormier is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Henzel postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Henzel is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cormier sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Cormier looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Henzel is fending him off so far but Cormier persists. Nope, Henzel circles away and we're back to standing. Cormier misses with a head kick.

Cormier wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Henzel trying to control but Cormier is working from the bottom. Cormier wants to sweep but no luck. Cormier had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Henzel defends it easily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Henzel stands up over Cormier, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cormier tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Henzel swivels and escapes. Some wild striking there from Henzel.
Cormier throws a series of punches but Henzel avoids them all with ease. Cormier tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cormier doesn't manage to clinch there - Henzel circles away.
Daniel Cormier is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cormier tries to close the distance and clinch up but Henzel swats him away and circles back towards the center. Henzel gets a clinch. Henzel tries to pull guard but Cormier holds him up against the cage and eventually Henzel drops back down to his feet.
Henzel wants to break free but Cormier has control.

Henzel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Cormier wants to sweep here but Henzel controlling him for the moment.

Henzel trying to control but Cormier is working from the bottom. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Cormier pulls Henzel in close to prevent any damage. Daniel Cormier overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Wayne Henzel wasn't active enough on the ground. Cormier shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Henzel as he jumps to the side. Cormier throws the kick towards the body but Henzel avoids it. Cormier tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Henzel swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Cormier. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cormier has taken the fight to the clinch.
Henzel has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Cormier is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Cormier is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Henzel to keep the fight standing. Cormier turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Henzel is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Henzel prevents Cormier from improving position. Cormier advances nicely into full mount. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cormier is working for a guillotine from mount but Henzel frees his head quite easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cormier controlling the pace for now. Henzel wants to hold on but Cormier pushes him away. Cormier looking to control but Henzel is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Cormier with the ground and pound from mount. Wayne Henzel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Cormier landing strikes, looking to finish! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cormier takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Cormier with good strikes from the mount here!
