PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pentti Hilkuri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Royler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Royler has chosen Metallica - Fuel as his entrance music. Roy Royler told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hilkuri tries to land a front kick but Royler steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Hilkuri looks to throw the jab but Royler is out of range.
Royler clobbers Hilkuri with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Royler is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Hilkuri had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Royler lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hilkuri circles away quickly and effectively.

Royler catches Hilkuri with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Oh Hilkuri is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

and Royler counters with a nice right hand that sends Hilkuri toppling to the canvas! Hilkuri scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Royler finish him?!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Royler connects with a leg kick. Hilkuri looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Royler drops Hilkuri with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Hilkuri looks back up at him and smiles so Royler waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Royler lands a leg kick that knocks Hilkuri off balance momentarily.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hilkuri lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Royler has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Royler and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Hilkuri might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Royler drops Hilkuri with a big left hand! Hilkuri is injured, injured bad! Royler jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
