The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Galat shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Pires is looking to improve his position.
Pires is looking to control Galat's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pires avoid being mounted?

Pires wants to control but Galat is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Galat is trying to control the action in half guard but Pires is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Galat connects with a right that clearly hurt Pires. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Galat proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Pires collapses and taps out under the pressure!
