Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Pattis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Thomson!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pattis throws a series of punches but Thomson moves out of range.
Pattis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Pattis has closed the distance and engaged Thomson in a clinch.

Pattis has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Thomson is trying to keep an underhook but Pattis manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Thomson is trying to stand.
Pattis controlling the action here.
Thomson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Thomson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pattis wants to control from the top but Thomson keeps moving.

Anthony Pattis has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thomson wants to stall.

Thomson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pattis's guard.

Pattis is looking for a triangle but Thomson pushes his legs off easily.
Pattis is looking to stand up but Thomson isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pattis is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Thomson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Thomson wants to control but Pattis is keeping him busy.
Pattis sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Thomson throws a sloppy head kick and Pattis moves out of range easily.

Pattis closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Thomson to the mat! Thomson manages to get full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Thomson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Pattis is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Thomson.
You can see the frustration on Thomson's face as Pattis controls the position.
Anthony Pattis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Thomson can't do much from the bottom here.
Pattis connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Thomson some visible discomfort.
Pattis is trying to ground and pound but Thomson uses the momentary lack of control by Pattis to regain half guard.

That's time! Pattis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Pattis scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Thomson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Pattis paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Pattis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
