Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Furious George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). George comes to the cage accompanied by Lamb of God - Descending. Joe Davis acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Furious George!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Davis!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
George jabbing away but nothing is landing.
George throws a right and a left that both miss.
George throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
George will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
George fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Davis steps to the side to avoid the strikes from George.

Davis shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Davis is looking to take a break and control but George is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
George wants to get back to full guard.
George is working hard here to advance position.
Davis looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis is thwarting George's attempts to control the position.

George looking for submissions off his back.
Davis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

George tries to roll over but Davis keeps him under control.
Davis wants to take a breather but George is having none of it.
Davis is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis is looking to take a break and control but George is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Joe Davis hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
George scores with a nice strike.
George takes a swing at Davis's ribcage but misses.
Davis bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
George throws a right and a left that Davis avoids nicely.
George throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
George misses with a hook to the body
and Davis counters with a leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
George misses with a takedown attempt - Davis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
George misses with a double jab
and Davis counters with a straight right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
George avoids the body shot from Davis.
Davis is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Davis changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Davis moves away from the strike by George.
George swings for the body but Davis moves out of range.
George throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
George fails to land the takedown.
Davis connects with a single shot there.
Davis uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from George.
George walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.


George is rocked!
Davis throws out a loose jab but George uses good head movement to avoid it.
Davis fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and George has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Davis slips a straight right by George.
Davis has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from George finds it's way round the side to connect with Davis's head.
George throws a right and a left that both miss.
George on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
A slow jab from George misses its intended target.
George misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Furious George. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Davis slips under a jab.
Davis connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
George lands an overhand right.
George misses with a hook
and Davis counters with a straight right hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
George connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Davis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in George's half guard.
George wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Davis dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

George is staying active underneath Davis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Davis lands with a punch from half guard.

Davis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Davis wants to control but George is keeping him busy.
Davis slows the pace down in half guard.
Davis looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
George is trying to get back to full guard.

Davis wants to pass to mount but George is defending the position.
Davis lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
George wants to get back to full guard.
Davis is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Davis is trying to control the action in half guard but George is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Davis might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control George haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

George is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Davis pulls his head out easily.

George keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Davis moves into range and connects with a jab.
George tries for a takedown but Davis circles away easily
and Davis counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
George fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Davis avoids it really well and circles away.

George decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Davis gets full guard.
Davis managing to control the position.
Davis wants to stand up but George is controlling him.

George is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Davis is looking for a triangle but George pushes his legs off easily.
Joe Davis has got the better of the ground game so far.

Davis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
George wants to control from the top but Davis keeps moving.
George cracks Davis with a solid left hand.
George in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Davis looking to hit a scissor sweep but George is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
George throws a big elbow that misses.

Joe Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Jab, jab by Davis - just one landing.
Davis walks into a stiff left hand from George.
George throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Davis counters with a lovely straight right hand!

George shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Davis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

George is trying to control the action in half guard but Davis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Davis manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
George makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Davis has momentary wrist control but George slips an elbow through the middle.
George throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Davis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Davis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. George doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. George manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

George is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Davis creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

You can see the frustration on George's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
George is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Davis connects with a nice short shot to George's temple.

Davis tries to pass the half guard into mount. George knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Davis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
George is in trouble now - Davis has advanced to mount!
George swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
George sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Davis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and George defends it well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
George wants to control but Davis is keeping busy.
Furious George has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Furious George.
Well Davis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
