Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, LJ Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marek Maalihe!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Maalihe checks a leg kick.
Maalihe lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Harris looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Harris is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Maalihe is just riding it out for now. Harris eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maalihe is trying to stand.
Maalihe is not content to let Harris control the position.
Harris seems to be working for a kimura but Maalihe defends the submission attempt.
Maalihe has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Harris is working away from the top position though.
Harris is looking to advance position but Maalihe won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris is working hard here to advance position.
Maalihe is trying to stand up here but Harris is controlling him well.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Horrible takedown by Harris or perhaps it was just good defense by Maalihe which made him look bad.
Maalihe scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like LJ Harris has been cut.
Harris misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Maalihe swinging wilding here.
Harris seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Maalihe shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Harris is backing up but Maalihe catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Harris covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Maalihe Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marek Maalihe!
