PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Santino Carelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maciej Dusza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carelli kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is La vittoria č mia. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Santino Carelli!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Maciej Dusza!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dusza tries to close the distance and clinch up but Carelli swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dusza moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Dusza gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Carelli.
Dusza avoids a punch combination nicely.

Dusza scores with a takedown into Carelli's guard.
Dusza wants to pass the guard but Carelli is keeping the position.
Dusza is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dusza postures up.
Carelli looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Dusza puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Dusza controlling the action here.
Dusza is looking to take a break and control but Carelli is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dusza thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Carelli's head.
Carelli slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Dusza wants to stand and escape but instead Carelli has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Dusza keeping moving, preventing Carelli from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carelli is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dusza is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dusza has escaped and now he's on top!
Carelli wants to hit a switch here but Dusza passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Carelli there!
Carelli regains half guard.

Dusza thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Dusza wants to work for an arm triangle but Carelli is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Dusza not doing much here.
Carelli is looking to control Dusza's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Carelli avoid being mounted?
Carelli slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carelli is pulling down on Dusza's head. It's preventing any offense from Dusza, at least for the moment.
Dusza looking to sit in guard and control but Carelli gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Dusza manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Santino Carelli will probably get the nod.

Dusza bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Carelli defending against the ground and pound.
Carelli is not content to let Dusza control the position.
Maciej Dusza has got the better of the ground game so far.
Carelli tries to improve position but can't.
Carelli stops Dusza from passing to mount.

Dusza trying to control the action but Carelli is working from the bottom.
Carelli is looking for a sweep.

Dusza tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Carelli is looking to reverse the position.
Carelli gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Dusza takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Dusza not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Dusza tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Carelli actively working from the bottom here.
Dusza is controlling the pace.
Carelli tries to get to full guard but Dusza has control of the leg.

Carelli looking for submissions off his back.

Dusza looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Dusza is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Maciej Dusza showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Carelli is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Dusza wants to take a breather but Carelli manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Dusza.

Carelli looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Dusza passes into side control.

Dusza is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Carelli is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dusza is looking to take a break and control but Carelli is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dusza advances nicely into full mount.

Carelli tries to improve his position but instead Dusza has taken his back!
Dusza connects with a big shot to the side of Carelli's head.
Carelli is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Dusza.
Let's hope that Dusza has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Carelli tries to roll but Dusza sticks to his back.
I would not like to be Carelli right now.
Carelli manages to reverse the position and now he's in Dusza's guard. Nice work there by Carelli.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Carelli drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dusza manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Carelli has Dusza in his guard.
Dusza wants to stand but Carelli has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Dusza passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Carelli tries to improve position but can't.

And that's the end of the fight!
Maciej Dusza comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dusza has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
