Fonseca's entrance music is Funkist-Snow Fairy. A fine choice. Matheus Fonseca has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nathaniel Cox! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cox thuds his right hand into Fonseca's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Fonseca tries to clinch but fails miserably and Cox counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Cox lands with a nice body punch. Nice body punch from Cox. The fighters circle momentarily. Cox darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Cox fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Fonseca shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cox napping and manages to drive through into side control! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Fonseca trying to control the position but Cox is working away. Cox managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Fonseca.
Cox is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Fonseca is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cox sees it coming and defends easily. Cox blocking the ground and pound attempt from Fonseca. Fonseca seems to be working for a kimura but Cox defends the submission attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fonseca throwing shots but Cox is blocking nicely. Cox is controlling Fonseca's trapped leg to prevent Fonseca from advancing to side control. Cox blocking the ground and pound attempt from Fonseca. Fonseca tries to stand but his arm is trapped. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fonseca takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Fonseca is thwarting Cox's attempts to control the position. Fonseca throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Cox to regain full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fonseca missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Fonseca has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Cox has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Fonseca off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Fonseca shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cox defends it nicely. Cox lands with a nice body punch. Fonseca is breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cox lands with a shot to the body. Jab, jab by Cox - just one landing. Cox connects with a good right hand that stumbles Fonseca. Fonseca circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Cox sends Fonseca crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Cox is motioning to the referee to let Fonseca up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Fonseca is rocked! Fonseca takes a body punch but keeps moving. Oh Fonseca is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cox works Fonseca's body with a nice hook. Cox digs a good hook to Fonseca's body.
Fonseca seems to have got his legs back now. Cox dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Cox fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Cox cracks Fonseca with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Cox has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Fonseca to stand back up! Cox has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cox scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Nathaniel Cox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cox jabs Fonseca to the body, keeping him at a distance. Cox cracks Fonseca with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Cox has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Fonseca to stand back up! Cox walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Fonseca drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Cox swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Fonseca's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
