Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hatsu Hioki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hioki comes into the arena with Heart of Asia blaring out of the sound system. Machida has chosen Calm Like a Bomb as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Mark Machida has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Hatsu Hioki's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hatsu Hioki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Machida! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Machida.
Machida throws a nice looking combination but Hioki bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Hioki cracks a nice hook into Machida's ribs. Machida lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hioki circles away quickly and effectively. Hioki will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hioki avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Machida throws out a loose jab but Hioki uses good head movement to avoid it. Hioki gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Machida. Hioki fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Machida manages to avoid it. Hioki takes one to the side of the head.
Machida throws a right and a left that both miss. Hioki fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Machida to the ground. Hioki is now in Machida's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Machida working for submissions but it's allowed Hioki to get to half guard.
Hioki is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Machida has managed to free his arm - good work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hioki is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Machida doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hioki.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hioki seems to be looking for submissions.

Hioki tries to pass to full mount but Machida defends it. Machida is not content to let Hioki control the position. Machida tries to get to full guard but Hioki has control of the leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hioki works his way into side control. Hioki wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Machida, who protects the arm well. Hioki is trying to get an arm triangle but Machida is defending well. Machida is looking to regain half guard here but Hioki keeps moving and retains side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hioki is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Machida is trying to escape and Hioki transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Machida is forced to tap! Nice work there by Hioki! Very nice indeed!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hatsu Hioki! Hatsu Hioki decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
