PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jake Debtman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dalton Pressnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jake Debtman has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jake Debtman seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jake Debtman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 25 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dalton Pressnell!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Debtman fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pressnell avoids it really well and circles away.
Dalton Pressnell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Debtman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pressnell tries to bum rush Debtman with a series of wild strikes but Debtman uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pressnell looks to land a combination but Debtman avoids it well.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Debtman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Debtman swings for the body but Pressnell moves out of range.

Pressnell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Debtman, pushing him back against the cage.
Pressnell prevents Debtman from breaking the clinch.
Debtman is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Pressnell prevents a takedown attempt there.
Debtman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pressnell smiles and moves away.
Pressnell is looking to clinch but Debtman is avoiding it.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Pressnell!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Debtman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pressnell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Debtman somewhat.
Pressnell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pressnell avoids the body shot from Debtman.
Debtman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pressnell's waist but Pressnell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Debtman off to one side.
Pressnell tries to clinch but Debtman moves out of range.
The crowd cheers as Debtman lands an impressive looking overhand right. Pressnell doesn't seem phased though.
Pressnell tries to clinch up but Debtman circles away and keeps his distance.
Pressnell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Debtman circles away quickly and effectively.

Pressnell darts in and clinches Debtman up against the cage.
Pressnell lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Debtman jumps guard but Pressnell stands there with Debtman around his waist. Debtman gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Debtman is trying to drag Pressnell to the mat but Pressnell just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Debtman is breathing heavily.

Debtman pulls guard effortlessly.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pressnell working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Pressnell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Debtman wants to sweep but no luck.
Pressnell wants to get up but he can't break Debtman's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Pressnell tries to free his leg and advance position but Debtman is retaining full guard.

Debtman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pressnell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pressnell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Debtman is proving hard to escape from.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pressnell throws an elbow that misses. Debtman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pressnell's guard. Nice move by Debtman!
Pressnell is looking to stand up but Debtman isn't so interested in that idea.

Debtman stops Pressnell from standing up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Debtman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Pressnell looking for a guillotine here but Debtman defends easily.
Debtman distracts Pressnell with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Pressnell is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Debtman is aware though and is defending well.

Debtman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Debtman stands up over Pressnell, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Debtman working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Debtman's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Debtman stands and steps away. Pressnell gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Debtman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Debtman fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Debtman stuffs the takedown attempt from Pressnell. Pressnell gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pressnell stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pressnell wants it to stay on the feet.
Pressnell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Debtman's waist but Debtman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pressnell off to one side.
Debtman bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Pressnell on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Pressnell drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Debtman manages to get back to half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Debtman has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Pressnell. Oh but Debtman has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Pressnell goes limp - he's gone! Debtman jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jake Debtman!
Jake Debtman decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
