Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dave Houses!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Houses decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Houses is trying to control the action in half guard but Del Angel is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Houses is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Still in half guard, Houses seems content to control.
Houses tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Del Angel.
Del Angel is not content to let Houses control the position.
Houses controlling the action here.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dave Houses hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Houses has closed the distance and engaged Del Angel in a clinch.

Houses turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Del Angel prevents Houses from improving position.
Del Angel isn't going anywhere.

Houses swings around for an armbar but Del Angel sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Houses's guard.

Houses doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Del Angel prevents Houses from getting back to his feet.

Del Angel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Houses walks away with a smile on his face. Del Angel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Houses is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Houses content to control rather than advance.

Del Angel regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Houses.
Houses stays in close to Del Angel's body and controls the position.
Del Angel has a closed guard, preventing Houses from standing up.

Houses trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Del Angel looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dave Houses hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Houses manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Del Angel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's time! Del Angel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Houses fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Del Angel, pushing him back against the cage.

Houses is looking to stand up but Del Angel isn't so interested in that idea.
Houses trying to keep a closed guard but Del Angel is proving a slippery customer.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Del Angel is stalling in the full guard.

Diego Del Angel has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Del Angel takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Houses feints and as Del Angel raises his hands in defense, Houses changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Houses stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Del Angel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Del Angel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Del Angel tries to get out of the position.
Del Angel can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Houses controls the pace.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Houses closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Houses is thwarting Del Angel's attempts to control the position.
Houses working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dave Houses comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Houses has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
