The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gompka has Laurinaitis up against the cage in a clinch.
Gompka throws a punch but it's blocked by Laurinaitis .

Laurinaitis tightens his grip and picks Gompka up, before dumping him to the ground. Gompka manages to land in guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Laurinaitis wants to control from the top but Gompka keeps moving.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gompka can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bob Laurinaitis has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Gompka looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Laurinaitis throws a right and a left that Gompka avoids nicely.
