Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Manderlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raoul Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mickey Manderlin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raoul Ramirez! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ramirez misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Manderlin.
Manderlin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ramirez misses with a takedown attempt and Manderlin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ramirez's guard now. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Manderlin looking to sit in guard and control but Ramirez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Manderlin keeping moving, preventing Ramirez from controlling successfully. Ramirez showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Raoul Ramirez has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Manderlin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Ramirez avoids the body shot from Manderlin.
Ramirez takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Manderlin shoots and misses and Ramirez counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Ramirez stalling.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Manderlin wants to pass the guard but Ramirez is keeping the position. Ramirez is adopting a defensive guard. Manderlin looking to sit in guard and control but Ramirez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. OK we're going to have a standup here. Raoul Ramirez hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Nice takedown defense from Manderlin. No joy for Ramirez on that attempt. Mickey Manderlin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raoul Ramirez. Ramirez misses with a straight left. Ramirez misses with a body shot.

and Manderlin counters with a nice double leg into guard. Manderlin trying to control the position from guard on top but Ramirez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ramirez wants to get back to his feet but Manderlin is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Manderlin is pushing down on Ramirez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ramirez is fighting to maintain full guard but Manderlin has managed to sneak the leg through. Manderlin has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Manderlin wants to control the pace but Ramirez is squirming around nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Manderlin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ramirez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Manderlin misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ramirez can do anything to dispel that myth. Ramirez manages to regain half guard. Good work. Manderlin is looking to take a break and control but Ramirez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Manderlin is looking to pass Ramirez's guard but actually Ramirez recovers to full guard. Manderlin is looking to advance position but Ramirez has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ramirez controlling from the full mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ramirez has a takedown stuffed. Raoul Ramirez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ramirez closes the distance and clinches up with Manderlin, looking for a takedown. Ramirez pushes Manderlin against the cage but Manderlin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ramirez misses with a lunging right hand
and Manderlin counters with a shoot takedown. Ramirez fights it but they end up in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Manderlin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ramirez swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ramirez throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Manderlin throws an elbow that misses. Ramirez uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Manderlin's guard. Nice move by Ramirez!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramirez has gone for a leg lock! Manderlin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ramirez's guard. Manderlin trying to control but Ramirez is working from the bottom. Manderlin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Ramirez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Manderlin keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Raoul Ramirez. Manderlin fails to land the takedown. Ramirez shoots and misses and Manderlin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Mickey Manderlin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raoul Ramirez. Manderlin trying to control but Ramirez is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ramirez holds on and takes a little breather. Ramirez keeping full guard, as Manderlin tries to pass. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ramirez working a defensive guard here.

Ramirez tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Manderlin bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ramirez's head backwards. Ramirez tries to bum rush Manderlin with a series of wild strikes but Manderlin uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Manderlin avoids the head kick by Ramirez.
Manderlin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Ramirez throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Manderlin tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ramirez is in Manderlin's guard. Manderlin looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Manderlin lands a right hook to the body.
Ramirez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Ramirez walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Manderlin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Manderlin misses with a body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Manderlin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ramirez is trying to defend but Manderlin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Manderlin wants to pass the guard but Ramirez is defending well. Ramirez trying to hold on to Manderlin's head to control him but Manderlin postures up.
Manderlin is stalling here. Ramirez is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Manderlin seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Ramirez has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. You can see the frustration on Manderlin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ramirez is looking to take a break and control but Manderlin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Raoul Ramirez wasn't active enough on the ground. Ramirez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ramirez showed some decent athleticism there. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Manderlin stuffs the takedown. Manderlin scores with a nice body kick.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mickey Manderlin. Well Manderlin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
