Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Darrent Williams! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rafael Fox! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fox missing with a left hand there. Williams was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Williams throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Williams ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fox moves away. Williams ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fox moves away. Good work by Williams as he checks the leg kick. Williams throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fox tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Williams is in Fox's guard. Williams controls from within his opponent's guard. Fox working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Williams. Fox throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Williams looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Fox is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Williams defends well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fox working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Williams doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Williams manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Williams sitting in guard here, content to control. Fox is looking for a triangle but Williams pushes his legs off easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fox is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Williams defends well. Williams is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Williams trying to control but Fox is working from the bottom. Williams could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williams is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Fox is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Williams loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Williams is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We're going to have a standup here because Darrent Williams wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Williams shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Williams was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Williams working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Fox can't do much from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fox manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Fox wants to control but Williams is keeping busy and won't allow it. Williams wants to pass the guard but Fox is defending well. Williams is working hard here to advance position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Fox is staying active underneath Williams, who seems content to just control the action from this position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fox blocks a jab. Williams swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Williams takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Fox thuds his shin into the meat of Williams's side. Fox throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Williams throws an overhand right that lands on Fox's shoulder, as Fox tries to avoid the shot. Fox throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Fox moves in looking to clinch but Williams pushes him off. Fox throws a body punch but Williams moves out of range. Fox connects with an inside leg kick. Fox doesn't manage to clinch there - Williams circles away.
Fox throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Williams's head. This has been an exciting period of action! Williams shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fox napping and manages to drive through into side control! The ground and pound from Williams seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Williams is trying to ground and pound but Fox uses the momentary lack of control by Williams to regain half guard. Williams slows the pace down in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fox is staying active underneath Williams, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Williams sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Fox defending well though. Williams prevents Fox from improving his position. Williams with the ground and pound but Fox uses the opportunity to regain guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fox is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Williams is stalling in the full guard. Williams tries to free his leg and advance position but Fox is retaining full guard. Williams's corner is telling him to maintain position. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Fox is trying to improve his position. Fox parries the strikes from Williams easily there. Williams is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Fox to escape.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Williams in particular looking to stall. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Darrent Williams will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Williams tries to throw a body punch but Fox avoids it by throwing Williams back against the cage. Fox putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Williams in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Williams blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Fox lands a good knee to the midsection. Williams won't want to take too many of those. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Williams as Fox tries to tie him up. Fox unloads a knee to the mid-section.

Fox unloads a knee to the mid-section. Williams lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Fox is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Fox is trying to maintain a safe position but Williams gets an underhook and turns Fox into the cage. Williams wants to break the clinch but can't.
Fox stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Fox creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Williams's defenses. Fox lands an elbow just above Williams 's eye.

Fox unloads a knee to the mid-section. Williams lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. A head punch blocked on the inside by Fox. Rafael Fox has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Fox comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Fox landing some nice looking knees to the body.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Darrent Williams! A very excited looking Darrent Williams rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
