Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Christian Alkofer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Glen Dale Arizona! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alkofer shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Arizona napping and manages to drive through into side control! Alkofer working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Alkofer throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Arizona works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Alkofer is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Arizona sees it coming and defends easily. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Alkofer is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Arizona actively working from the bottom here. Alkofer blocks the strikes from Arizona.
Alkofer seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Alkofer lands strikes from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alkofer wants to pass the guard but Arizona is defending well. Arizona manages to escape and get back to his feet! Arizona closes the distance looking to clinch and Alkofer counters with a nice double leg into guard. Arizona preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Alkofer missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Arizona is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Arizona trying to strike off his back.
Arizona looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Alkofer passes into half guard.
Arizona looks winded! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Alkofer frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Alkofer blocks Arizona's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Arizona defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Alkofer. Alkofer looking to finish Arizona with some ground and pound. This is bad for Arizona! Alkofer working away from the top, dropping strikes. Arizona is trying to stand. Alkofer working the ground and pound effectively.
Arizona is rocked! Arizona tries to reverse the position but Alkofer maintains control. Arizona is still in real trouble! Can Alkofer finish him? Alkofer lands a nice shot to the head. Alkofer lands a big shot to the head and Arizona winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
