PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Schulte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Manhoef (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manhoef has chosen Killing In The Name as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Brian Schulte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Melvin Manhoef!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schulte misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Manhoef.
Manhoef misses with a wild combination.
Manhoef takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Schulte throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Manhoef does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Manhoef throws a series of punches but Schulte moves out of range.
Melvin Manhoef seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schulte connects with a nice looking jab.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Schulte remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Poor strikes thrown by Schulte there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
