PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michael Belver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladan Jasimivic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Belver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vladan Jasimivic!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Belver moves into the clinch.
Jasimivic is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Belver is keeping busy.
Jasimivic has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Belver has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jasimivic is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Belver breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Belver fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Belver throws a head kick but Jasimivic moves out of range.
Belver changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jasimivic tries to avoid it but Belver manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jasimivic to the ground. Jasimivic escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Belver. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jasimivic misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Belver wants to clinch but Jasimivic slips to the side

and Jasimivic counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jasimivic is pressing down on Belver's thigh, looking to free his foot. Belver is holding on for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Belver is looking for a sweep. Jasimivic is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Belver is staying active underneath Jasimivic, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Belver tries to roll over but Jasimivic keeps him under control.
Jasimivic perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Vladan Jasimivic wasn't active enough on the ground.
Jasimivic dodges the punch combination from Belver.

Belver has managed to clinch.
Jasimivic is trying to pull guard but Belver has him pressed against the cage.

Belver's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Belver tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jasimivic manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Belver shoots in looking for a takedown but Jasimivic manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Belver's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Jasimivic.
You can see the frustration on Belver's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Belver manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jasimivic's best efforts.
Belver is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jasimivic takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Jasimivic wants to pass the guard but Belver is defending well.
Belver is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jasimivic scores with a couple of nice shots.
Jasimivic looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Belver moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Jasimivic would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Jasimivic wants to pass the guard but Belver is keeping the position.

Belver really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Belver fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jasimivic keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Belver shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jasimivic as he jumps to the side.
Belver lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Jasimivic shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Belver but Belver pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Nice uppercut lands for Belver. That snapped Jasimivic's head back.

Jasimivic feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jasimivic stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Belver swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Belver connects with a high kick.
Belver tries to clinch up but Jasimivic circles away and keeps his distance.

Belver pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Jasimivic feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jasimivic stands up over Belver, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Belver had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jasimivic defends it easily.
Jasimivic wants to stand but Belver has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Belver is trying to control the position but Jasimivic postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jasimivic has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Belver is proving hard to escape from.
Jasimivic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Belver. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Vladan Jasimivic showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Jasimivic looks to land a combination but Belver avoids it well.

Jasimivic shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Belver sprawls well. Belver wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jasimivic gets slowly back to his feet.
Belver stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Belver wants it to stay on the feet.

Michael Belver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladan Jasimivic.

Jasimivic shoots in looking for a takedown. Belver tries to sprawl out of it but Jasimivic keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Belver manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Belver closes the distance and clinches up with Jasimivic, looking for a takedown. Belver pushes Jasimivic against the cage but Jasimivic circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Belver escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jasimivic gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Michael Belver.
I think Jasimivic has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
