Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Juan Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Norman Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Kill The Noise Pt. 1. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juan Perez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Norman Diaz! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perez avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Diaz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Perez on the side of the head. Perez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Diaz avoids it really well and circles away. Perez lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Diaz throws a nice looking combination but Perez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Diaz throws a jab when Perez was well out of range. Diaz stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Diaz moves into the clinch. Perez is looking to break free of the clinch but Diaz has double underhooks. Diaz lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Diaz is looking to stall here but Perez recovers full guard. Diaz postures up and lands a big shot to Perez's brow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Perez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diaz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Diaz trying to control but Perez is working from the bottom. Perez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Diaz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Diaz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Perez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Diaz stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Perez throws up his legs and catches Diaz in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Diaz tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Perez! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Juan Perez! Juan Perez decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
