Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andy Graves! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blake Wallace! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Graves changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wallace tries to avoid it but Graves manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wallace to the ground. Wallace escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Andy Graves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wallace closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wallace lands in his opponent's guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Graves looking for a guillotine here but Wallace defends easily.
Wallace must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wallace wanted to stand there but Graves had control of the position. Graves is looking for a triangle but Wallace pushes his legs off easily.
Graves looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Wallace working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Wallace trying to control the position from guard on top but Graves is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wallace really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Graves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wallace postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Graves is looking for a triangle but Wallace pushes his legs off easily.
Wallace wants to stand but Graves has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wallace is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Graves working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Wallace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wallace would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Graves had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wallace defends it easily. Graves throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Wallace working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Graves holds on and takes a little breather. Graves lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Wallace! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Graves is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Wallace has managed to escape the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Graves goes for an armbar but Wallace turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Wallace. Wallace wants to control from the top but Graves keeps moving. Wallace is looking to stand up but Graves won't let him. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Graves is on top in guard.
Graves forces his way into half guard. Graves trying to pass the guard but Wallace defending well. Wallace is trying to stand up here but Graves is controlling him well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Graves wants to control but Wallace is keeping him busy. Wallace wants to get back to his feet. Graves wants to work for an arm triangle but Wallace is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Graves throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Wallace has his hands clasped together but Graves breaks the hold and Wallace is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Graves!
