PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Patton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Israel Cuzack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Israel Cuzack told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Patton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Israel Cuzack!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cuzack moves away.
Cuzack looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Patton shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cuzack is trying to defend but Patton finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Cuzack has hold of Patton's hands but Patton slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Patton scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Patton landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Patton working over Cuzack with some ground and pound. Cuzack looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Cuzack taking some punishment here, with Patton in his half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Patton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cuzack with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Patton winds up and cracks Cuzack with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Patton connects with a nice short shot to Cuzack's temple.
Patton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cuzack keeps working.
Patton is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Patton working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Cuzack is rocked!

Patton is nestled in close to Cuzack, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Cuzack is still in real trouble! Can Patton finish him?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Patton lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Cuzack quite badly. Cuzack pulls Patton in close trying to recover. Patton postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Cuzack on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Cuzack doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jason Patton!
Jason Patton opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
