PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Schulte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Beasley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beasley has chosen Metalingus as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brian Schulte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Adam Beasley!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beasley misses with a double jab.
Schulte lands a jab-cross combination.

Beasley gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Schulte accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Beasley wants to stand and escape but Schulte is having none of it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Schulte shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Schulte showed some decent athleticism there.

Schulte is looking for a kimura but Beasley is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Schulte to get the leverage.
Beasley is trying to stand up here but Schulte is controlling him well.
Beasley is staying active underneath Schulte, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Beasley pushes Schulte off looking to stand but Schulte dives back in and keeps control.
Schulte uses his free foot to push down on Beasley's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Beasley.

Beasley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schulte. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Schulte can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Beasley is looking to escape.

Schulte is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Beasley is surviving well by controlling Schulte's body position as best he can.

Schulte slips a jab and a cross from Beasley.
Schulte closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Beasley lands with a nice body kick.
Schulte sizes up Beasley with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Beasley fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Beasley is breathing heavily.

Schulte moves into range and clinches up with Beasley.

Beasley has had enough of the clinch but Schulte keeps him there for the moment.

Schulte decides to pull guard.
Schulte wants to sweep but no luck.
Beasley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Beasley wants to stand and escape but instead Schulte has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Schulte passes Beasley's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Schulte wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beasley keeps working.

Brian Schulte overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Schulte won't let Beasley get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
