Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Bartlett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lucas Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Al Bartlett!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bartlett tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jones sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bartlett somewhat.

Bartlett is controlling Jones's posture.

Bartlett has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.
Bartlett is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jones stays in close to Bartlett's body and controls the position.
Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Lucas Jones just wasn't active enough.

Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bartlett sprawls well. Bartlett wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.

Jones is looking for a sweep.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones is working to avoid the ground and pound but Bartlett connects with a decent elbow.

Bartlett stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Jones throws a leg kick but Bartlett sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Bartlett closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Bartlett pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Bartlett pushes him off.

Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jones showed some decent athleticism there.
Bartlett is looking to improve his position.
Jones will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jones trying to control the action but Bartlett is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones prevents Bartlett from standing back up.

Bartlett is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jones wants to control but Bartlett is keeping him busy.
Bartlett tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bartlett is looking to get back to is feet but Jones passes into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Al Bartlett will probably get the nod.

Bartlett jumps into guard, dragging Jones to the mat.
Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bartlett is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Jones wants to control from the top but Bartlett keeps moving.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bartlett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bartlett manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Bartlett tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jones wants to try and get back to his feet.
Jones trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Jones can't escape the position.
Jones is trying to stand.
Bartlett is landing with some decent strikes but Jones is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Bartlett is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jones can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Bartlett tries to control but Jones wriggling away.
BOOM! Bartlett connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Bartlett wants to control the pace but Jones is squirming around nicely.
Jones is trying to escape the mount.

Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bartlett on the ground.

Bartlett breaks from Jones's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Jones is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Bartlett controlling from the full mount.
Bartlett connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Jones tries to lock up and control but Bartlett gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Jones working to try and regain half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bartlett looking to control and managing it successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bartlett looking to finish Jones with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jones!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Al Bartlett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Jones wants to get back to his feet but Bartlett is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Bartlett closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Jones's guard.

Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bartlett is working away from the top position though.
Bartlett looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jones with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Al Bartlett comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bartlett has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
