Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matthew Kirkness!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Obadiah Primus!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Primus shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kirkness defends it nicely.
Kirkness slaps away a takedown attempt from Primus, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Primus shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Matthew Kirkness has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Obadiah Primus.
Kirkness lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Primus scoring well with a low kick there.
Primus throws out a loose jab but Kirkness uses good head movement to avoid it.
Primus wants to clinch
and Kirkness counters with a three punch combo that has Primus backing up. Primus nods at Kirkness to acknowledge the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kirkness is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Primus's half guard.
Kirkness is breathing heavily.
Primus wants to control but Kirkness is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Primus wants to get back to full guard.
Kirkness escapes and gets back to his feet.
Primus tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kirkness sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Primus somewhat.
Kirkness feints a jab promting Primus to slip. Kirkness then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Primus slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Primus fails with a takedown attempt.
Kirkness drives through with a takedown into Primus's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Kirkness postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Primus has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Kirkness doesn't defend quickly enough and Primus has managed to lock this one up! Can Kirkness escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Primus on a fantastic submission victory.
