Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michak Ropuia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ropuia's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Here comes the pain - Slayer. Michak Ropuia has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michak Ropuia! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lance Stevens! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The crowd cheers as Stevens lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ropuia doesn't seem phased though. Stevens connects with a body shot. Stevens misses with a series of wild punches.
Stevens throws a hook to the side of Ropuia's head but Ropuia sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Stevens smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Stevens lands a jab to the nose. Stevens lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Stevens moves into range and connects with a jab. Stevens wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Ropuia gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Ropuia throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stevens's waist but Stevens gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ropuia off to one side. The fighters circle momentarily. Stevens darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ropuia throws a right and a left that both miss. Stevens dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Stevens scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Stevens tests Ropuia's chin there with a solid looking shot. Ropuia on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ropuia shoots in for a takedown but Stevens shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Stevens fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Stevens lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Ropuia with a poor takedown and Stevens counters with a straight right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michak Ropuia. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ropuia with a lazy takedown attempt enabling Stevens to counter with a crisp jab. Ropuia displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stevens throws out the jab. Ropuia takes a jab right on the kisser.

Ropuia shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stevens but Stevens pushes him off and we're back to square one. Nice body punch from Stevens. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Stevens connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Stevens throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Stevens scores with a sloppy right hand. Ropuia should have avoided that one. Ropuia takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Ropuia misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ropuia takes a shot right to the bread basket. Ropuia looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Stevens connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Ropuia drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Nice cross by Stevens. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Ropuia. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Stevens fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Stevens cracks Ropuia with an open hand slap. Stevens keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A left lands for Stevens. Ropuia shoots for a double leg takedown but Stevens sprawls well. He's pushed Ropuia's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevens digs a good body shot into Ropuia's ribs. Stevens fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Ropuia feints and as Stevens raises his hands in defense, Ropuia changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Ropuia is breathing heavily. Ropuia preventing the sweep. Ropuia is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Ropuia tries to free his leg and advance position but Stevens is retaining full guard. Stevens looking for a sweep. Not yet Stevens, not yet. Ropuia trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Ropuia preventing the sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Stevens is trying to keep Ropuia in close.
Ropuia passes Stevens's left leg - he's now in half guard. Ropuia is looking for a kimura here.
Ropuia seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Stevens is looking to control Ropuia's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stevens avoid being mounted? Ropuia is looking for a kimura here.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Stevens tries to roll over but Ropuia keeps him under control. Ropuia is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Stevens sees it coming and defends easily. Ropuia is working for a kimura but Stevens is defending it quite comfortably.
Stevens really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ropuia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Stevens desperately trying to maintain half guard.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Stevens looks like he's trying to stand up.
Ropuia moves into full mount! Stevens won't be happy about that! Stevens wants to hold on but Ropuia pushes him away. Stevens is working to get back to half guard.
Ropuia working for a guillotine from mount but Stevens is in no mood to give up. Ropuia looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Ropuia looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Ropuia goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Stevens turns into him and now he's in Ropuia's guard.

He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Stevens has his hands clasped together but Ropuia extends an breaks Stevens's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Ropuia.
