0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Fischer! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fischer digs a good hook to Balestra's body.
A right-left combo lands from Fischer. A right-left combo lands from Fischer. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Fischer!
Balestra has a takedown stuffed. A left and a right from Fischer both land. Nice combination. Fischer shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Balestra eats them both and turns towards Fischer to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Fischer throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Fischer misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Fischer tried to score with a low kick but Balestra checks it. Fischer works the jab nicely. Fischer lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Fischer closes the distance and lands a one-two. Sloppy strikes from Fischer. Those never looked like landing. Fischer is working the combinations to good effect here. Balestra drives through and clinches with Fischer against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Balestra pulls Fischer into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Balestra pulls Fischer in to control the position. Fischer is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Balestra has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Fischer is looking to defend but Balestra has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Fischer! Balestra pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Fischer taps out and this one is all over!
