Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Meyer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ronnie Boland! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meyer shoots in for a takedown but Boland shows good takedown defense. Boland dodges the punch combination from Meyer.
Boland gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Meyer tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Meyer keeps control of Boland as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. A knee to the head by Meyer.
It looks like Ronnie Boland has been cut. Meyer wants to get back to striking at distance but Boland won't allow it.
Meyer using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Boland has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Meyer is working for takedown but Boland is calmly controlling the position for now. Meyer is breathing heavily. Meyer prevents a takedown attempt there.
Boland is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Meyer pulls him back up using the underhooks. Boland drops down looking for an ankle pick but Meyer pulls his leg out and moves away.
Steve Meyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronnie Boland. Boland throws a left and a right that both miss
and Meyer counters with an outside leg kick.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Meyer - that will leave a mark!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Boland. Boland in side control, just content to control the action for now. Boland working the body and head with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boland stands up and beckons Meyer to his feet. Boland decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Boland is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Boland is taking a breather. Meyer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Meyer is trying to control but can't.
Boland wants to lay and pray for a moment but Meyer keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boland is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Meyer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Boland is working away from the top position though. Boland is keen to just control but Meyer is a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Boland gets a takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Meyer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Meyer is trying to stand up here but Boland is controlling him well. Boland seems to be working for a kimura but Meyer defends the submission attempt. Boland content to control rather than advance. Meyer trying to control from the bottom.
Boland really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Meyer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Boland keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Meyer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Boland thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Meyer's head.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Boland rushes Meyer and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Boland has had enough of the clinch but Meyer keeps him there for the moment. Boland manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Meyer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Meyer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Boland controlling the position. Meyer trying to control the position from guard on top but Boland is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boland feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Boland postures up.
Meyer manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Boland manages to get himself to full guard.

Boland takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Boland stands up and beckons Meyer to join him on the feet. Boland shoots in and bounces Meyer off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Meyer controlling Boland's posture. Ronnie Boland has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boland content to stall in guard here. Meyer is trying to keep Boland in close.
Meyer looking for a sweep. Not yet Meyer, not yet. Boland throws a big right hand that misses. Meyer looking for a sweep. Not yet Meyer, not yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boland accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Boland wants to stand but Meyer is controlling his posture from full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Meyer tries for a takedown but Boland circles away easily and Boland counters with a three punch combo that has Meyer backing up. Meyer nods at Boland to acknowledge the strikes. Meyer looks to clinch so Boland counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Meyer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Meyer is trying to keep Boland in close.
Meyer wants to sweep here but Boland controlling him for the moment. Boland postures up and lands a big shot to Meyer's brow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ronnie Boland showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Ronnie Boland's cut. That's time! Meyer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Boland shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Boland working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Meyer trying to control from the bottom.
Boland prevents Meyer from improving his position. Meyer scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Boland manages to mount him!
Boland breaks from Meyer's wrist control and lands an elbow. Boland lands a heavy elbow. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Meyer tries to hold on but Boland postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meyer is looking to get to half guard. Boland landing strikes, looking to finish! Meyer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Boland landing strikes, looking to finish! Boland working for a guillotine from mount but Meyer is in no mood to give up. Meyer working to try and regain half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. A nice elbow there by Boland. Meyer is trying to escape the mount.
Boland is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Meyer can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Boland has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Meyer's face.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Boland avoids the attempt from Meyer to control. Boland wants to control the pace but Meyer is squirming around nicely. Boland cracks Meyer with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Meyer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Boland is in the full mount, landing strikes. Boland looking to secure an arm triangle but Meyer defends it well. Boland lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Meyer hang on?
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Boland prevents Meyer from getting the reversal. Meyer taking shots to the head. Meyer is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Boland avoids the attempt from Meyer to control. Meyer is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Boland is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Steve Meyer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Boland raining down shots from the mount! Boland blocks Meyer's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Ronnie Boland comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Boland winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
