PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Karate Kid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Epp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Karate Kid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eric Epp!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid throws a poor cross that misses
and Epp counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Epp ducks under a wild hook from Kid.
Epp steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kid.
Karate Kid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Epp closes the distance and clinches.

Kid breaks from the clinch.
Kid misses the shot to the body.
Epp tries to bum rush Kid with a series of wild strikes but Kid uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kid fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Epp manages to avoid it.
Kid scores with a hook to the body. Epp takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Epp moves into the clinch.

Kid manages to break the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kid misses with a looping right.
Kid fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Epp checks it well.

Epp has closed the distance and engaged Kid in a clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Kid.
Epp wants to stall.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Kid.

Kid pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kid scores with a body shot.
Kid pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A decent looking cross lands there for Kid.

Kid swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Epp avoids a punch combination nicely.

Epp clinches.
Epp stalling in the clinch but Kid improves position.
Epp taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Epp has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kid is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

A left hand lands to the body for Kid.
Epp drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kid gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Kid breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kid throws a looping overhand right but Epp ducks down to avoid it.
Epp walks into a straight right hand from Kid.

Kid instigates a clinch.
Kid just leaning against Epp, taking a breather.

Kid seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
A right handed body shot lands from Kid.
Epp tries to land knees in the clinch but Kid avoids the damage to the body.
Kid scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Kid lands a left hand that snaps the head of Epp backwards.

Kid's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Epp moves out of range of the body kick from Kid.
Kid misses with a body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karate Kid dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Epp lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Kid swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Epp uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kid.

Epp misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A lazy left from Kid finds it's target.
Kid throws a hook to the side of Epp's head but Epp sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kid wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Epp shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Epp missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Epp trying to control the action but Kid is working from the bottom.
Kid trying to hold on to Epp's head to control him but Epp postures up.

Kid regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Epp.
Kid keeping moving, preventing Epp from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Eric Epp.
Kid connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Kid digs a good hook to Epp's body.
Epp shoots in but Kid avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kid's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
No luck for Epp with that takedown attempt.
Karate Kid has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Epp.
Kid fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Epp is breathing heavily.
Kid looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Kid lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Epp at a distance.
Kid looks to score with a jab to the body but Epp is just out of range.
Epp gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kid.

Kid moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Karate Kid is winning the standup battle so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Epp counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Epp has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kid lands a body punch.
Kid taking a breather.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Epp tries for a takedown. No joy.

Kid cracks Epp with a nice body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kid creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

and Kid counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Epp has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kid finds it's way round the side to connect with Epp's head.

Kid lands a two punch combo.
Epp chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kid can pounce on him.
Kid throws a nice outside leg kick.
Kid misses the shot to the body.
Kid defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Epp.
Epp swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Kid throws a lazy right hand but Epp sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kid. Epp does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kid waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Epp.
Eric Epp has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Epp looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

And that's the end of the fight!
Karate Kid showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kid, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
