PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chance Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dwyane Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lewis comes into the arena with Tech N9ne - Demons ( Feat Three 6 Mafia ) blaring out of the sound system. Griffin has chosen Tech N9ne - Am I A Psycho? (Feat. B.o.B. and Hopsin) as his entrance music. The key to victory for Chance Lewis has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dwyane Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Griffin moves into the clinch successfully.
Griffin is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Griffin lands a knee to the body.
Griffin unloads a knee to the mid-section. Lewis lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Griffin lands a nice knee to the body.

Lewis can't break the clinch.

It looks like Chance Lewis has been cut.
Griffin just leaning against Lewis, taking a breather.
Lewis takes a knee to the side of the body.
Griffin is pushing Lewis up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Griffin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lewis lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
The fight stays on the outside here - Griffin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Griffin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lewis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lewis shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Lewis lands a really nice looking cross but Griffin seems unphased.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Griffin checks a leg kick.
Lewis lands with a straight right. Griffin didn't see that one coming.
Lewis moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Griffin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Lewis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Griffin tries to close the distance and clinch but Lewis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Griffin clinches up with Lewis and pushes him back against the cage.
Griffin connects with a knee to the head.
Griffin is pushing Lewis up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Lewis blocks an elbow strike.
Lewis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Griffin walks away with a smile on his face. Lewis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Lewis cracks Griffin with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Griffin manages to break the clinch.
Lewis goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Lewis lands a slapping body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Griffin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Griffin avoids a kick to the body.

Griffin forces Lewis back against the cage and clinches.
Griffin displaying some good clinch control by pressing Lewis up against the cage.
Lewis dodges an elbow strike from Griffin.
Griffin unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Griffin tries a knee to the head but Lewis blocks it.
Lewis fails to pull guard.
Griffin is pressed up against the cage. Lewis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Griffin down to the mat. Griffin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Lewis misses with a body kick.
Griffin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Lewis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Griffin connects with a nasty looking knee right to Lewis's face.
Griffin manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Griffin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lewis with a nice cross.
Lewis misses with a leg kick.
Griffin moves in looking to clinch but Lewis pushes him off.
Lewis throws a low kick, looking for Griffin's leg but Griffin calmly moves out of range.
Lewis connects with a solid leg kick.
Lewis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A right-left combo lands from Lewis.
Lewis throws a leg kick
and Griffin counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Lewis scores with a jab to the jaw.

Griffin clinches up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lewis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chance Lewis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Dwyane Griffin.
Lewis shoots in looking for a takedown. Griffin tries to sprawl out of it but Lewis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Griffin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lewis circles away from the clinch attempt.

Lewis throws a right and a left that both miss.

Griffin clinches.

Griffin scores with a knee to the head.
Lewis is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Griffin pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Dwyane Griffin seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Lewis is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Griffin to keep the fight standing.
Griffin slows down the pace here.

Griffin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lewis looks for the body kick but Griffin saw that one coming.
Griffin fails with an attempt to clinch.

Lewis tries to bum rush Griffin with a series of wild strikes but Griffin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Chance Lewis is winning the standup battle so far.
Lewis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lewis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lewis swats away the attempt to clinch by Griffin.
Griffin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Lewis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Oh Lewis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Griffin has Lewis pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Lewis is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Griffin - that's hurt Lewis badly! Oh, another knee lands and Lewis is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Lewis doesn't seem to be complaining.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Dwyane Griffin!
