Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ben Swanley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Newgate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edward Newgate will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ben Swanley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Edward Newgate! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Newgate lands a jab to Swanley's midsection. Swanley fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Newgate goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Newgate tries to clinch up. Newgate looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Swanley closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Newgate is trying to stand up here but Swanley is controlling him well. Newgate makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Newgate. Newgate is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Swanley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Newgate controls Swanley momentarily but Swanley frees himself. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Swanley trying to control the position from guard on top but Newgate is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Swanley has gone for a leg lock! Newgate slips out almost immediately though and dives into Swanley's guard. Swanley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Newgate defends it easily. Swanley not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Newgate sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Swanley's guard. Newgate is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Swanley wants to control but Newgate is keeping busy and won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Swanley wants to sweep but Newgate has passed to side control! Newgate just content to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Swanley is looking for a sweep. Newgate lands a decent elbow from side control. An elbow from Newgate crashes against the mat.
Swanley prevents Newgate from moving into mount. Newgate tries to stand but Swanley is controlling his head. Swanley is trying to improve his position. You can see the frustration on Swanley's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. An elbow from Newgate crashes against the mat.
Newgate in side control, throwing shots but Swanley defends. Swanley is looking to regain half guard here but Newgate keeps moving and retains side control. Swanley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Swanley is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Newgate's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Swanley wants to control but Newgate is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Swanley blocking the ground and pound attempt from Newgate. Newgate performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Swanley is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Newgate working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Swanley's thigh. Swanley counters though and makes it back to full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Swanley tries to land a sweep but no joy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Edward Newgate will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Swanley dives in and grabs Newgate's left leg, looking for a takedown. Newgate pushes down on Swanley's head and hops out. Swanley decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Swanley is looking to stall here but Newgate recovers full guard. Newgate is looking to sinch up a triangle. Swanley throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Newgate's body to avoid the submission. Newgate has instead reached around Swanley's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Newgate arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Edward Newgate!
