Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ronald Spears (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JJ Slaughter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ronald Spears!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, JJ Slaughter!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spears shoots in looking for a takedown. Slaughter tries to sprawl out of it but Spears keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Slaughter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Slaughter throws the kick towards the body but Spears avoids it.
Slaughter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Spears moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Slaughter misses with a combination
letting Spears counter with a right hand.
Slaughter looks to land a combination but Spears avoids it well.
Slaughter throws a left and a right that both miss

and Spears counters with a shoot takedown. Slaughter fights it but they end up in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Spears trying to control the position from guard on top but Slaughter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Slaughter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Spears is one step ahead there.
Spears might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Slaughter's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Slaughter duly obliges.

and Spears counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Spears.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Spears distracts Slaughter with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Spears shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Slaughter's guard.
Slaughter manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Spears is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Slaughter is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Spears can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Slaughter unloads with some shots from mount but Spears bucks and avoids them well.

Slaughter stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Slaughter is breathing heavily.
Slaughter pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Spears lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Spears.
JJ Slaughter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Spears shoots in and drives through. Slaughter sprawls well.
Slaughter swinging wildly here.
Spears tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Slaughter paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Slaughter looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Spears decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Spears scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Slaughter controlling the position for now.

Spears is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Spears looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Slaughter is looking to control Spears's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Slaughter avoid being mounted?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Spears looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Spears blocks the strikes from Slaughter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but JJ Slaughter will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Spears closes the distance and clinches up with Slaughter, looking for a takedown. Spears pushes Slaughter against the cage but Slaughter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Spears throws a sloppy head kick and Slaughter moves out of range easily.

Slaughter lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Slaughter throws a right and a left that both miss.
Sloppy strikes from Slaughter. Those never looked like landing.
Slaughter scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Slaughter keeps the fight on the outside.

Spears tries to clinch but Slaughter is having none of it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ronald Spears overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Slaughter wants to stand up but Spears is controlling him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to JJ Slaughter.
I think Slaughter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
