Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ratt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Esko Takanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes comes into the arena with Country boy can survive blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
34 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ratt Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
36 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Esko Takanen! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Takanen lands the left hand. Takanen ducks right into an uppercut from Hughes. Hughes thows a left - swing and a miss! Hughes takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Takanen pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Hughes swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Takanen. Those never looked like landing. Hughes thows a left - swing and a miss! Hughes connects with a single shot there. Some bone on bone action there as Hughes checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Takanen avoids the body shot from Hughes.
Takanen scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hughes ducks right into an uppercut from Takanen. Esko Takanen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hughes bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Takanen scores with a jab to the body. Hughes throws a low kick but Takanen moves out of range easily. Hughes avoids the head kick by Takanen.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takanen takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Takanen fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Hughes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Takanen tries to avoid it but Hughes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Takanen to the ground. Takanen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Takanen avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Takanen misses with a body shot.
Takanen scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. A combination from Hughes does no damage. Hughes shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Nice defenses there by Hughes. Takanen throws a looping overhand right but Hughes ducks down to avoid it. Hughes checks the leg kick nicely there.
Takanen scores with a nice strike. Hughes blocks a jab. Takanen throws an ugly left hook that misses
enabling Hughes to counter with a crisp jab. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Takanen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Takanen lands the left hand. Hughes jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Takanen scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Hughes sizes up Takanen with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Takanen takes a swing at Hughes's ribcage but misses. Takanen misses with a wild body shot. Hughes is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Takanen. Hughes misses with a lunging right hand
and Takanen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Takanen cracks Hughes with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Hughes blocks the body kick.
Hughes misses with an uppercut. Takanen saw that one coming. Takanen moves out of range of the strikes. Hughes fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Takanen checks it well. Takanen connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hughes's hands.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takanen drops his hands momentarily and Hughes takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Takanen misses with a looping left. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Takanen, as that shot connected.
Hughes tries to work over Takanen's front leg with a kick but Takanen checks it. Hughes scores with a nice right hand.
Takanen loads up on a big right hand but Hughes slips the punch. Hughes needs to keep his hands up - Takanen had a free shot at his head there. Takanen slips a jab from Hughes. Takanen throws an overhand right that lands on Hughes's shoulder, as Hughes tries to avoid the shot. Crunch! Takanen slams his shin into Hughes's torso. Hughes dodges the punch combination from Takanen.
Takanen misses the shot to the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hughes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Takanen wants to control but Hughes is keeping busy.
Hughes stalling. Hughes is keen to just control but Takanen is a slippery customer. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hughes working over Takanen with some ground and pound. Takanen looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Takanen has hold of Hughes's hands but Hughes slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Esko Takanen will probably get the nod. That's time! Hughes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
An inside leg kick lands from Hughes. Takanen misses with a straight left. Takanen digs a good body shot into Hughes's ribs. Hughes keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Takanen slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Takanen throws a sloppy body shot
and Hughes counters with a series of strikes. Takanen will be more careful next time no doubt. A big right from Hughes misses. Hughes misses with a body shot.
Takanen keeps Hughes at a distance using the push kick. Takanen misses with a looping right. Hughes scores with a hook to the body. Takanen takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hughes bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Takanen's head backwards. Hughes misses with a body kick. Hughes slips a jab from Takanen. Hughes slips under a jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes misses with a body kick. Hughes showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Takanen.
Hughes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Hughes is fighting to break Takanen's control of his arms but Takanen is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Takanen wants to sweep here but Hughes controlling him for the moment. Takanen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Takanen trying to control the position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Esko Takanen wasn't active enough on the ground. Hughes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Takanen but Takanen pushes him off and we're back to square one. Hughes gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Nice defenses there by Takanen. Hughes takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Esko Takanen seems to be getting the better of the standup. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Takanen. Hughes shrugs it off though. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Takanen scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Hughes uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Takanen. Takanen misses with a body shot.
Esko Takanen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Takanen cracks Hughes with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Takanen throws a good cross that connects.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jab from Hughes. Hughes looking to score a takedown here. Takanen is defending well but Hughes drives through and ends up in Takanen's guard. Hughes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Takanen is keeping the position for now. Takanen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Takanen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hughes with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Hughes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hughes looking to control but Takanen is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Ratt Hughes will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Hughes follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Takanen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Hughes shoots for a double leg takedown but Takanen sprawls well. He's pushed Hughes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Takanen throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. A jab from Hughes misses. A telegraphed right hand from Takanen misses the target. Hughes scores with a jab. Hughes misses with a hook. Takanen ducked under it nicely. Hughes shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes is thwarting Takanen's attempts to control the position. Hughes missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Hughes trying to control from half guard but Takanen is working away. Takanen avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hughes. Hughes is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Hughes is trying to control. Takanen wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hughes takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Hughes throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Hughes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Takanen is refusing to be controlled, as Hughes sits in half guard. Hughes thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Takanen's head. Takanen manages to get to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hughes wants to control from the top but Takanen keeps moving. Hughes working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Takanen's head. Takanen looking for a guillotine here but Hughes defends easily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hughes accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Takanen holds on and takes a little breather. Hughes with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Hughes is in close to Takanen's body, working some short punches and elbows. Takanen keeping moving, preventing Hughes from controlling successfully. Takanen controls Hughes momentarily but Hughes frees himself. Hughes trying to control but Takanen is working from the bottom. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hughes missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Takanen tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that's the end of the fight! Ratt Hughes showed his dominance in that final round. I think Hughes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
