Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alan Langer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Samilia! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Langer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Samilia's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Samilia looking for a sweep. Not yet Samilia, not yet. Langer throws a big right hand that misses. Samilia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Langer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Langer trying to control the position from guard on top but Samilia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Langer forces his way into half guard. Langer perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Langer throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Langer is taking a breather. Samilia says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Langer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's one minute gone in the round. Langer is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Langer controlling from mount. Langer working for a submission but Samilia is keeping him at bay. Poor strikes thrown by Langer there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Langer controlling the pace for now. Langer looking to control but Samilia is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Langer looking to finish with strikes here!
Samilia is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Langer locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Samilia is forced to tap!
