Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roman Szczeniak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Reihnardt! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Szczeniak fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Reihnardt fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Reihnardt rushes Szczeniak and presses him up against the cage. Szczeniak wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Szczeniak is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Reihnardt comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
It looks like Roman Szczeniak has been cut. Reihnardt trying to stall but Szczeniak improves his position.
Szczeniak wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Reihnardt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Szczeniak drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Szczeniak slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Szczeniak lands a couple of elbows. Szczeniak is looking to work some ground and pound but Reihnardt has wrist control. Szczeniak chips away with some ground and pound. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Szczeniak postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Reihnardt looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round. Szczeniak cracks Reihnardt with a solid left hand. Szczeniak working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Reihnardt's head. Szczeniak is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Szczeniak throws a big right hand that misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Szczeniak looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Szczeniak lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Reihnardt is rocked! Szczeniak postures up and lands a big shot to Reihnardt's brow. Reihnardt is still in real trouble! Can Szczeniak finish him? We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Szczeniak is in close to Reihnardt's body, working some short punches and elbows. Szczeniak postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Reihnardt covers up, he's hurt! Szczeniak keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Szczeniak and the ref steps in to end the fight! Szczeniak can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
