Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Erick Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Erick Silva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Erick Silva! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Diaz! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Diaz was covering up waiting for the punch and Silva finishes the takedown easily into guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Silva decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Diaz, up you get! Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Silva showed some decent athleticism there. Silva content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Diaz is looking to improve his position.
Silva is working for a kimura but Diaz is defending it quite comfortably.
Diaz looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz is refusing to be controlled, as Silva sits in half guard. Silva thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Diaz is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard. Diaz wants to control the action here but instead Silva manages to pass to full mount! Silva avoids the attempt from Diaz to control. Silva breaks from Diaz's wrist control and lands an elbow. Silva controlling from the full mount. Diaz defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Silva.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz is trying to escape the mount.
Diaz slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Diaz is trying to stand up here but Silva is controlling him well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Silva stalling. Silva working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Silva prevents Diaz from improving his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard. Silva wants to pass to mount but Diaz is defending the position. Diaz keeps control of the position for the meantime. Still in half guard, Silva seems content to control. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Silva fails with a takedown attempt. A combination from Diaz does no damage. Diaz moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz tries to clinch up. Diaz tries for a takedown but Silva circles away easily and Silva counters with a nice double leg into guard. Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Silva is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Diaz looks winded! Silva landing with the ground and pound. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Diaz avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard. Diaz is looking for a triangle but Silva pushes his legs off easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Diaz wants to control but Silva passes easily into half guard.
Silva slips a nice elbow through Diaz's hands, connecting with Diaz's forehead. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Erick Silva dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Silva paws at him with a jab and circles away. Diaz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Diaz is looking to clinch but Silva is avoiding it.
Silva throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Diaz. Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Silva as he avoids it easily. Diaz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Diaz tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Diaz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Diaz throws a lazy head kick and Silva counters with a nice double leg into side control. Diaz won't be happy with that.
Diaz is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Silva landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Diaz is still in real trouble! Can Silva finish him? Silva scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Diaz to see if he's OK. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva lands a strong strike to the head of Diaz. That's dazed him! Silva looking to finish here. Diaz is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Silva lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Erick Silva! Erick Silva retains his welterweight title!
