Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alistar Krillan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Orihito Shibukawa!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Shimada and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Krillan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Krillan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Shibukawa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Krillan is working away from the top position though.
Krillan wants to pass the guard but Shibukawa is defending well.
Krillan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Krillan tries to free his leg and advance position but Shibukawa is retaining full guard.

Krillan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Krillan throws an elbow that misses. Shibukawa uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Krillan's guard. Nice move by Shibukawa!

Shibukawa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Krillan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Krillan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Shibukawa tries to free his leg and advance position but Krillan is retaining full guard.
Krillan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Orihito Shibukawa was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Krillan drives through and clinches with Shibukawa against the cage.

Shibukawa drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Krillan gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Alistar Krillan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Orihito Shibukawa.

Krillan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Krillan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shibukawa to the mat! Shibukawa manages to get full guard.
Krillan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Krillan slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Krillan forces Shibukawa back against the cage and clinches.
Shibukawa is looking for a takedown.
Shibukawa tries for a takedown. No joy.
Shibukawa drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alistar Krillan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Orihito Shibukawa.
Shibukawa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Krillan walks away with a smile on his face. Shibukawa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Krillan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Krillan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Shibukawa's head.
Shibukawa is breathing heavily.

Krillan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Shibukawa sees it coming and defends easily.
Krillan throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Krillan wants to control but Shibukawa is keeping him busy.
Shibukawa keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Alistar Krillan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Krillan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Krillan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
