The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith Jr is looking to clinch but Waters is avoiding it.
Waters connects with a jab. Smith Jr closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Smith Jr advances to full mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith Jr landing punches. Smith Jr closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Waters wants to control but Smith Jr postures up.

Smith Jr can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Waters is looking to escape. Smith Jr swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Waters is now in Smith Jr's guard. A big mistake from Smith Jr there, giving up the dominant position! Waters sitting in guard here, content to control.

Waters is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Smith Jr is trying to hold Waters in close to prevent damage but Waters has managed to pass into half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Waters comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Smith Jr shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Waters but Waters pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trey Smith Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him. Waters scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Waters displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith Jr. Waters connects with an inside leg kick. Waters scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Waters lands a left and a right that send Smith Jr crashing to the mat, dazed. Waters thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Smith Jr is rocked! Aubrey Waters seems to be getting the better of the standup. Waters connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Smith Jr momentarily.
Oh Smith Jr is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Waters thows a body kick. Smith Jr tries to catch it but that hurt him. Smith Jr seems to have got his legs back now. Waters drops Smith Jr with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Smith Jr! Waters dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
