Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Spencer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gus Dengel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spencer comes to the cage accompanied by Ride Of The Valkyries - Richard Wagner. Dengel comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Papillon kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Gus Dengel has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mark Spencer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 16 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gus Dengel! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spencer fails with the takedown and Dengel counters with a body kick that stops Spencer in his tracks momentarily. Dengel is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Dengel wants to clinch. Spencer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Spencer cracks a nice hook into Dengel's ribs. Spencer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dengel was covering up waiting for the punch and Spencer finishes the takedown easily into guard. Dengel has control of Spencer's left arm, preventing Spencer from doing any damage. Spencer tries to free his leg and advance position but Dengel is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spencer trying to control the position from guard on top but Dengel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Spencer loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Dengel controlling Spencer's posture.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mark Spencer. Dengel pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Spencer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dengel tries to clinch up. Dengel tries to clinch up but Spencer circles away and keeps his distance. Spencer fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Dengel has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dengel stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dengel wants it to stay on the feet. Spencer loads up on a big right hand but Dengel slips the punch. Spencer throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Dengel on the side of the head. Spencer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Spencer scores with a jab. Dengel tries to close the distance and clinch but Spencer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Spencer scores with a hook. Dengel tries to clinch but fails miserably and Dengel takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Spencer keeps the fight on the outside. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dengel tries to clinch up but Spencer circles away and keeps his distance. Spencer misses the shot to the body. Spencer throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Dengel on the side of the head. The fight stays on the outside here - Dengel looks like he's thinking about clinching though. No luck for Spencer with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Spencer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dengel avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dengel moves into the clinch successfully.
Dengel tries to land knees in the clinch but Spencer avoids the damage to the body. Dengel throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Spencer blocks it with crossed arms. Spencer avoids the elbow strike from Dengel, against the cage.
Spencer is trying to break the clinch but Dengel is controlling him. Spencer tries for a takedown but Dengel manages to get underhooks.
Dengel misses with some punches.
Dengel is pressed up against the cage. Spencer has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dengel down to the mat. Dengel avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Dengel is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Spencer shoots in and gets a takedown into Dengel's guard. Spencer throwing strikes from guard but Dengel blocks nicely. Spencer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dengel swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dengel looking for a sweep. Not yet Dengel, not yet. Spencer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Spencer wants to control from the top but Dengel keeps moving. Spencer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Spencer is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Spencer stopping the sweep attempt from Dengel.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Mark Spencer wasn't doing enough on the ground. The fight stays on the outside here - Dengel looks like he's thinking about clinching though. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spencer scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Spencer dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Spencer thuds his right hand into Dengel's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Mark Spencer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dengel is looking to clinch. Spencer lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Spencer lands a jab to the head.
Both fighters circling a little - Spencer finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. A lazy left from Spencer finds it's target. Spencer swings for the body but Dengel moves out of range.
Spencer lands with a hook. Dengel tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Dengel leaves Spencer with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Dengel tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Spencer shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dengel defends it nicely. Dengel drives through and clinches with Spencer against the cage.
Spencer turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dengel tries to bench press Spencer off him but Spencer keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spencer working away. Spencer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dengel keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spencer is trying to ground and pound but Dengel uses the momentary lack of control by Spencer to regain half guard. Spencer is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Dengel sees it coming and defends easily. Dengel is not content to let Spencer control the position. Spencer is trying to work for a kimura but Dengel is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spencer thows a huge punch but Dengel dodges it nicely.

Spencer is keen to just control but Dengel is a slippery customer. Dengel trying to hold on to Spencer's head to control him but Spencer postures up.
Spencer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Spencer uses his free foot to push down on Dengel's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dengel.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spencer pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Spencer misses with a head shot. Dengel can't escape the position.

Spencer sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Spencer throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Spencer punching from mount but Dengel doing a good job of avoiding damage. Spencer looking to ground and pound but Dengel is blocking nicely. Dengel takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Spencer raining down shots from the mount! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Spencer lands a big elbow. Dengel tries to hold on but Spencer pushes him away. Dengel holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Spencer tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Dengel is working to get back to half guard.
Dengel wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Spencer.

Spencer swats away the attempt to clinch by Dengel. Dengel defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Spencer. Spencer misses the shot to the body. Dengel is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Spencer looking to score a takedown here. Dengel is defending well but Spencer drives through and ends up in Dengel's guard. Spencer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dengel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Spencer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Spencer is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Dengel is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Spencer throws a big elbow that misses. Spencer has gone for a leg lock! Dengel slips out almost immediately though and dives into Spencer's guard. Dengel wants to pass the guard but Spencer is keeping the position. Dengel trying to control but Spencer is working from the bottom. Dengel stops Spencer from standing up. Dengel throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spencer is trying to keep Dengel in close.
Dengel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

A low kick from Dengel lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Spencer has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Spencer and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Spencer cracks the inside of Dengel's front leg. Spencer is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Spencer moves out of range of the body kick. Dengel tries to move into range but Spencer moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Nice jab there from Spencer. Spencer is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spencer shoots in and drives through. Dengel sprawls well. Spencer gets tackled into the cage by Dengel. Dengel maintains the clinch. Dengel trying to land knees to the body.

Dengel tries to throw a body punch but Spencer avoids it by throwing Dengel back against the cage. Spencer pulls guard effortlessly. Dengel throws a strike but Spencer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Spencer wants to pass the guard but Dengel is keeping the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spencer trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Dengel manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Gus Dengel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Dengel throwing strikes from guard but Spencer blocks nicely.
And that's the end of the fight! Mark Spencer showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Spencer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
