PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Prindle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Prindle comes into the arena with Otherside blaring out of the sound system. Hunt has chosen Super Massive Black Hole as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eric Prindle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Hunt! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Joseph Jones and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hunt forces Prindle back against the cage and clinches. Hunt wants a takedown.
Hunt tries to score a body lock takedown but Prindle shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Hunt tries for a takedown but Prindle manages to get underhooks.
Eric Prindle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Hunt. Prindle prevents the takedown attempt.
Hunt throws a head punch that misses. Hunt lands with a light punch inside. Prindle is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hunt to keep the fight standing. Hunt is working for takedown but Prindle is calmly controlling the position for now. Hunt is trying to trip Prindle. He has hold of a leg but Prindle is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Hunt persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Hunt scores with a decent looking elbow strike. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hunt would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Hunt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hunt slips nicely into half guard. Prindle trying to control but Hunt postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Prindle taking some punishment here, with Hunt in his half guard. Hunt is looking for a kimura but Prindle is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hunt to get the leverage. Hunt seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Prindle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Prindle looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Prindle on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Prindle is looking for a sweep. Hunt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Hunt wants to control but Prindle is keeping him busy. Prindle is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hunt's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hunt's back! Prindle is controlling the position but Hunt somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Prindle slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Prindle trying to advance position but Hunt counters by regaining guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hunt controls Prindle momentarily but Prindle frees himself. Prindle trying to control but Hunt is working from the bottom. Prindle has gone for a leg lock! Hunt slips out almost immediately though and dives into Prindle's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Prindle wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hunt pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Prindle is keeping the position for now. Hunt wants to stand and escape but instead Prindle has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Prindle looking to sit in guard and control but Hunt gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Prindle is pulling down on Hunt's head to control his posture.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Prindle trying to control the position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hunt's corner. There ya go! There ya go! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hunt wanted to stand there but Prindle had control of the position. Hunt trying to control but Prindle is working from the bottom. Prindle trying to control the position.
Prindle pulls Hunt in close to prevent any damage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hunt wanted to stand there but Prindle had control of the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Prindle misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Robert Hunt dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Prindle fails with the takedown and Hunt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Eric Prindle has been cut. Prindle blocks a jab. Prindle cracks Hunt with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Hunt misses with a looping left. Prindle takes one to the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Prindle walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Hunt throws a lazy uppercut
and Prindle counters with a left and a right that stings Hunt. No luck with that takedown attempt from Prindle. Hunt steps into range and cracks Prindle with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Prindle flops backwards and Hunt dives into his guard looking to finish!
Prindle is rocked! Hunt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Prindle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hunt trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Hunt looking to pass the guard. Prindle trying to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunt throwing strikes from guard but Prindle blocks nicely. Hunt is looking to stand up but Prindle won't let him. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Prindle keeping full guard, as Hunt tries to pass. Prindle preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hunt tries to free his leg and advance position but Prindle is retaining full guard. Hunt is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Prindle is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Prindle has escaped and now he's on top! Prindle trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hunt lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Prindle! Hunt is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Hunt has Prindle up against the cage in a clinch.
A short right from Hunt on the inside. Hunt gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Prindle trying to control but Hunt postures up.
Hunt is working for an americana but Prindle has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Hunt was thinking about the submission. Hunt trying to control the position from guard on top but Prindle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Prindle trying to keep a closed guard but Hunt is proving a slippery customer.
Hunt tries to free his leg and advance position but Prindle is retaining full guard. Prindle is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Prindle keeping moving, preventing Hunt from controlling successfully. Hunt has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Prindle is proving hard to escape from.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Robert Hunt wasn't active enough on the ground. Prindle slips a jab from Hunt. Hunt throws the left hand but Prindle avoids the punch easily. Prindle uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hunt. Eric Prindle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Prindle has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Prindle there as he acknowledges the shot. Hunt avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunt throws a jab but it's blocked by Prindle. Hunt tries to clinch but Prindle is having none of it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hunt misses with a few strikes there.
Prindle fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Prindle. That's going to take a lot out of him. Prindle will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hunt defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Prindle. Nice shot lands for Hunt. Prindle defending well as Hunt loads up on a big left hand. A combination from Hunt does no damage. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hunt tries to clinch there but Prindle circles away.
Prindle throws a one two combo.
Hunt drops Prindle with a big left hand and mounts him. Prindle is in big trouble! Oh Prindle is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Eric Prindle's cut is getting worse. Hunt postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Prindle in real trouble here! The ref calls for Prindle to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robert Hunt! An out of breath Robert Hunt thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
